Pam Leiper 02/08/1942 – 23/03/2024

We changed our profile picture some time ago, to mark the sad passing of one of our longest serving members; Pam Leiper.

It will soon be three months since Pam left us and so it seems right to let you all know a little bit more about this wonderful woman and passionate supporter of the Fireballs.

Originally from Portsmouth, Pam moved to Stonehaven in the 1960s after leaving the RAF. She became involved with the Fireballs in 1987 after seeing her daughter, Susan taking part in the 1985 ceremony.

She was a founder member of the Fireballers Guild along with Jack & Bill Emslie and became the secretary, treasurer and archivist; compiling a list written in calligraphy in a ledger of the swingers names (this has sadly since been lost).

She took part in the 1988 ceremony and every year after that until 2024.

She lead off the ceremony in 1996 wearing her famous white boiler-suit that was her distinctive, trademark Hogmanay outfit.

A strong supporter of the Stonehaven Fireballs Association since it was formed in 2002, she helped out at every opportunity to make the event the success that it now is.

We know she is sadly missed by her family and friends, and she will certainly be missed by all of us within the Fireballs Association.

Here’s to you, Pam – may your Fireball burn brightly forever more!!
